The official launch of the Intel Sandy Bridge E platforms means that all the major motherborad manufacturers are busy at work releasing their latest boards for the platform. MSI, too has launched a bunch of X79-based boards. Four new boards were launched - the MSI X79A-GD65 (8D), X79A-GD65, X79A-GD45, and X79MA-GD45. The new line of boards are based on the LGA2011 socket, that’s being used for the new line of Core i7 Sandy Bridge E processors. The boards have 8 DIMM slots, which support upto 16GB of DDR3 memory per DIMM. A total of 128GB of memory can be installed on the boards.
