Integrity for Survivors of Abuse

We are all liars. In the very moment that our trust is violated and we are abused, we have to make a decision - will we tell or will we cover it up. Most of us, because we are young when the abuse occurs, don't even make this decision in a deeply insightful way. We simply know something about what has happened is bad and wrong, and you get in trouble for doing bad and wrong things - so we don't tell.
This means that we then sit down to breakfast with this huge thing happening that we can't speak about. When asked if anything is wrong, we say, "I need more butter on my pancakes." Our word becomes more and more degraded over time. Soon, we tell little lies out of habit rather than necessity. This disconnection from what we say lining up with what is happening, what we are doing is what I call "a lack of integrity."
Now, integrity is one of those words that usually makes people stiffen uneasily. It seems to be a word that connotes unachievable heights. For me, though, integrity is simply saying what you mean, and meaning what you say - then following through with action to see what you've given your word to come to fruition. For example, don't say, "I hate you, I'm never going to talk to you again" if you don't mean it. If you do mean it, then do it! Don't say, "We should get together for lunch sometime" unless you mean it. If you do mean it, then send an email or make a call to actually get a date on the calendar.
In the world of recovery, we hear a lot about building back your self-esteem, getting over the shame and guilt, forgiving, and a myriad of other areas that are affected by abuse (and, to be sure, we're going to talk a lot about them in this book). Yet, the one area I've noticed doesn't get addressed often is the impact of abuse on our ability to live honest, integrous lives.
Language and what we say is extremely powerful. For too long, we have been disconnected from our voice as a way to restore integrity and to cut out the lying.
REFLECTION
I encourage you to spend some time reflecting on how you are currently using your word. What areas of life do you notice that you haven't been saying what you mean, meaning what you say or following through in? How often is your word aligned with your actions? What excuses do you turn to when you break your word?
Also, spend some time reflecting on what was it like for you to have to keep the abuse secret if you were unable to talk to anyone about what happened at the time or even still today?

Gasoline and Your Car, Why It Matters?

You simply can't get away from it. No matter how hard you try, you must eventually come to the realization that your car simply will not run if it does not have gasoline. Yes, the prices are high, and yes, it can become annoying to have to constantly fill up your tank before starting a new week of work. But it is the way of life for many people in today's society, so you simply have to make the most of it.
When we say "make the most of gasoline," we actually mean it. Although some people fail to be aware of the possibilities when it comes to conserving gasoline, we have some tips that may serve to help you actually do it, saving you money and time, as well as wear and tear on the car. Most of these ideas are simple and commonly done by many people all over the country, but with a little encouragement, you too can start reaping those benefits.
First of all, you need to take a moment and reflect on how often you are using your car, and for what purposes. Gasoline can only go so far, no matter what other measures you take, so the occasions that merit its necessary use must be carefully evaluated and planned. For example, you can take the kids to school, drop off the mail at the post office, and pick up the milk and eggs on the way home if you just plan things right. Running errands in this way can be a great help for saving gasoline. Otherwise, you end up taking several trips just to complete all of those things. Consolidate your errand running into as few trips as possible, and try to get a lot done at once. That way, your gasoline will last longer, and you'll put fewer miles on your car.
Also, be sure to get the right kind of gasoline for your car. Often, the type of gasoline you should use is outlined in the owner's manual that comes in the glove box of the vehicle. By reviewing this information, you can search out those fuel stations that can provide you the right kind of grade and quality of gasoline that you need to make sure that your car runs smoothly for as long as possible.
If you are driving in the city, it is likely that you will find that your car gets a lower gas mileage than if you are driving constantly on the freeway. However, if you can find a way to keep your speed fairly even, you will be able to go farther than you think. That's right. By simply avoiding the constant stop-and go that commonly happens in city driving, you can actually improve your gas mileage, saving yourself the number of times you must purchase gasoline in a month. Don't speed up or brake quickly unless you have to. Set your pace to an even rhythm, and you will find it makes a big difference.
Other information and tips on conserving gasoline use in your car are available through many means, including the internet, car specialists, and even insurance companies. Find out more information today, and improve the gas mileage in your car.

Real Love

It was a gloomy Saturday afternoon. A flock of birds was spending great time searching for food and playing on the main road. Out of the sudden, a big truck sped through... sad thing had happened again.
Birds can feel too. Although this bird had already died, another bird flew over to her immediately, just like a family member, unable to accept the truth.
Not long after that, another car stormed in causing the dead bird's body to whirl with the wind. The spouse noticed the movement. As if she was still alive, he quickly flew beside her again.
He stayed beside her and yelled ... "WHY ARE YOU NOT GETTING UP!?"
Unfortunately, she's no longer able to hear him. In the meantime, he's trying to lift her up.
He, of course, was unable to bear the burden. Another car soon passed by. He quickly flew off. Once the car had gone, he came down again.
Although other birds told him its useles, he never gave up. He was trying his best to lift her up to see her flying again. Another car passed by, her dead body whirled again as if still alive and trying to fly.
He had used all of his energy, however...The photographer said he couldn't shoot any longer. The photographer was so worried that the living bird was going to get hurt by passing cars. So he picked up the dead bird and left it at the roadside. The live one still lingered at a nearby tree as if crying with his singing and refused to leave.Do humans have the same feelings nowadays? I wonder.

How To Dissassenble the Nokia N900?
    Nokia N900 Review
Review 1:I finally had mine delivered today after a 2 month pre-order wait direct from Nokia. I have to say this phone is like no other I have ever used (and I've had many phones from all manufacturers over the years). Firstly it is stunning to look at and the pictures do not do it justice. It is extremely well made, feels solid with all aspects of the hardware feeling very impressive. The keypad is one of the best I've used (miles better than any HTC attempt). Its reactive and intuitive and this coming from someone with big hands. Excellent camera also which is a bonus.

I haven't even got to the software yet, the new Maemo 5 operating system. All I can say is wow. It gives you an unprecedented amount of flexibility (even more than Windows Mobile) It also looks good and in my humble opinion finally we have a genuine advancement over the current iphone which seems to have been leading the way....until now.

I could go on for pages about this phone mainly with positives but would like to quickly address some of the negatives that have been touted around. Firstly the touch screen is very impressive whether you use your finger, nail or stylus. I find it just works as it should and do not feel there is any problem here. Secondly, battery life. I got a full day from the first charge, and that was with heavy usage while I customised it with all my info and with the WIFI on.

If I have to pick one negative it is that at the time of writing the app store 'Ovi' is not up and running. However bare in mind Nokia have delayed the launch date for bricks and mortar shops until 3 December so I expect it will be live by then.

In summary this is without doubt the smartest Smartphone now available with the 'key' feature in my opinion being the 'computer' like web browsing, which is about as close to a full browsing experience as I've come across. The potential for this phone and more importantly the OS, Maemo is high and I think Nokia may have finally found their way again after a few 'flops'
Review 2:This Maemo powered Nokia N900 is excellent. The web browser is superb, a proper web browser that does flash, so you can watch youtube. The browser works well on the screen with gestures to zoom in, like double tap. The camera is cool, 5 megapixels and it geotags the location you took your photo using the builtin GPS. Video is good quality too, I've since download Qik and can send videos live to the web. Mediaplayer is good, very good quality watching films, the builtin in speakers are loud and it has TV out to watch on a larger screen. Neat thing is that it has a built in FM transmitter, so listening to music in the car is easy using FM, the N900 even makes your car radio say Nokia on the radio!

It is has an application manager to download more apps, with Ovi shop to follow soon. All applications can be run at the same time, with proper multitasking. Plus as it is a computer, it comes with the x-terminal, so you can do geeky stuff. And of course it is a phone so not only can your get connected over WiFi, you can use 3g and make phone calls. The contact manager groups contacts for phone calls, Skype calls, SMS, instant messages, with a conversations application to view all conversations by contact, making it easy to track conversations, or start new ones.

In all in all, I highly recommend this smart phone.
Review 3:I do agree on all accounts given here... but no one really talks about battery life...

I have been using this phone since last 4 days... a call or two during the day but the battery drains very rapidly... By afternoon I have one fourth of it left... come evening there is about one bar euivalent left...! I do have the AP news and the Facebook widget on... but nothing else...!!!

Is anyone else here having similar problems?
